In Islamic scripture there is a very interesting concept called the Alam e Arwah or the realm of the souls. It is said that it’s there that god had the collective of all souls together before sending them into the form they exist in.
One of the books quote prophet Muhammad to have said: Souls are like grouped comrades: those that recognize each other get along, and those that don’t tend to differ
